CHILD & ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY

Thoughtful psychiatric care for children, teens, and their families.

Children and adolescents experience mental health conditions differently from adults. Changes in mood, behavior, school performance, sleep, relationships, or emotional regulation may be signs that additional support is needed.

At Brick Psychiatric Services, we provide thoughtful psychiatric evaluation and treatment for children and adolescents, with care tailored to each young person's developmental stage, individual needs, and family circumstances.

Understanding the Whole Child

A psychiatric evaluation is designed to look beyond an individual symptom or behavior. Our providers consider a child's emotional, behavioral, developmental, social, academic, and medical history to develop a clearer understanding of what may be contributing to their difficulties.

When appropriate, parents or guardians are actively involved in the evaluation and treatment process.

Care may include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation

  • Diagnostic assessment

  • Medication evaluation and management

  • Ongoing monitoring and follow-up

  • Parent and family guidance

  • Coordination with therapists and other healthcare professionals

  • Collaboration with schools or other members of the child's care team when appropriate and authorized

Conditions We Treat

Our providers evaluate and treat a range of childhood and adolescent mental health concerns, including:

  • ADHD and attention difficulties

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Depression

  • Mood disorders

  • Behavioral and emotional regulation difficulties

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • Panic symptoms

  • Sleep-related concerns

  • School-related anxiety and functional difficulties

  • Other psychiatric and behavioral health conditions

Symptoms can overlap, particularly in children and teenagers. A careful evaluation helps distinguish between conditions and identify an appropriate course of treatment.

A Collaborative Approach to Treatment

When medication is recommended, we take a measured approach. Families receive information about the purpose of treatment, potential benefits and side effects, and available alternatives so they can make informed decisions about their child's care.

Treatment is monitored over time and adjusted as a child's needs change.

Our goal is to create an environment in which young patients feel heard and respected while parents and caregivers feel informed and involved.
